Chromebook Overview & Support
The PPS 1:1 Chromebook take-home program provides every PPS student with an assigned Chromebook dedicated for that student's use. Devices are assigned by assets label to the student and students should not trade or swap devices with other students. Device usage is also logged by the student user account which can assist in knowing which student used which device.
Students and families less familiar with the Chromebook device may find the following resources helpful.
-
Receiving and Returning Student Chromebooks
Students are assigned a specific, registered to them by both the device's serial number and the logged active use of the device. Students should not trade devices with others.
Receiving Student Chromebooks
Students will receive their assigned Chromebook from the PPS school they are enrolled in. Parents should contact their child's school office if a device was not provided during the enrollment process. For students enrolling during the summer months, a Chromebook will be assigned in the fall when school begins.
Returning Student Chromebooks
Students and families should return a Chromebook to the school office from which it was received. This is required only when the students will no longer be attending the school. If a student is leaving one PPS school and enrolling in another, the Chromebook should be returned to the school the student is leaving. The new school will assign the student a Chromebook when they enroll. Schools will assign students Chromebooks in the fall to grades three, six, and nine. Each spring, schools will collect student Chromebooks. OTIS will develop collection processes and protocols, but each school will be responsible for collecting their devices, similar to collecting textbooks.
If the school office is closed or other circumstances arise, devices can be returned to the Office of Technology and Information Services at the PPS central office; 501 N. Dixon, 国产真实迷奸, OR 97227. Arrangements to return a student's Chromebook can be made by contacting the OTIS Tech Support staff at 503.916.3375.

Parent Awareness, Monitoring, and Security
Our district uses Securly to help families set internet filtering rules for their children when using school devices and accounts at home. As a parent or guardian, you can use Securly to stay on top of your child’s online activity in real-time from anywhere, with the SecurlyHome App. Securly will also send parents/guardians weekly email reports with a snapshot of their student’s internet activity. This report is a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to open a dialogue with their students about their digital lives.

Care and Responsibility
Students are responsible for the general care of the Chromebook they have been issued by 国产真实迷奸 Public Schools. Students with Chromebooks that are broken or fail to work properly, are lost, or have been stolen must report the problem to their teacher or email support@pps.net as soon as possible so the issue can be taken care of properly. 国产真实迷奸-owned Chromebooks must never be taken to an outside computer service for any type of repairs or maintenance. Students should treat the Chromebook as valuable material and always store the Chromebook in a safe location when not in use.
