    Idle-Free Zones

Safe Routes to School works to reduce traffic congestion and harmful idling fumes around schools. Schools interested in participating in an idle-free campaign encouraging drivers to turn off vehicles when parked are eligible to receive up to three metal idle-free zone signs that can be placed on school grounds.

In order to make the greatest impact, we require educational materials to be distributed to families when the metal signs are being installed. We will provide the educational materials for you to distribute. The metal signs can only be installed on school property. No city-owned poles or sign posts may be used. The metal signs need to be installed by the school with parts, such as zipties or metal mounts, provided by the school.
