    School Climate

Tier I - Universal Access: A strong tiered system of support begins with a focus on Tier I. Tier I, or universal access, is culturally and linguistically responsive to our Black, Indigenous and additional students of Color as well as our multilingual students. Tier I should also be designed to be inclusive and accessible to all students, including students with IEPs. Tier I is universal access to essential grade level standards, behavior instruction and practice, Tier I Core Counseling Curriculum, school wide SEL practices, and community and family engagement for all students. Tier I is supported by PLCs, School Climate Teams, and ILT and is provided by the classroom teacher, school counselor, school social workers, Gen-ed funded school psychologists and school nurses. Tier I supports schoolwide expectations, wellness and climate of the school community.

    Office Discipline Referrals (ODRs)

Part of creating a positive climate is responding to unexpected behaviors fluently, reengaging the student in learning as quickly as possible. It is important to document unexpected behaviors and staff response in order to review the information to look for trends and design additional supports if needed. PPS' documentation system includes Office Discipline Referrals.

Guidance and training resources on ODRs are located on the Student Conduct and Discipline page.
