Vernon IB World School is proud to offer both the IB Primary Years Program (grades K-5) and Middle Years Program (grades 6-8). IB embodies a global framework of best practices and culturally-responsive teaching and learning, and is currently offered in over 140 countries across the Americas, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific regions. IB is a core value at Vernon that guides and enhances our curriculum, instruction, philosophy, school climate and identity.

Overall, Vernon’s IB programs (PYP & MYP) share a powerful vision that is informed by the values described in the IB Learner Profile. The Learner Profile is at the heart and soul of the IB approach, with the goal of developing internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

This comes alive through the , which is 10 holistic traits, that we aim to help children grow and develop throughout their time here at Vernon. We ourselves, as educators and community members, are all lifelong learners that are constantly growing and embodying these 10 profiles. Students receive “Compliments” from Vernon staff when they are caught doing good, living the Learner Profile at anytime throughout the day. Students can use their Compliments at the Vernon Student Store or to enter school raffles as well. In addition, we have quarterly PBIS (positive behavior interventions & support) assemblies highlighting students’ growth with the Learner Profile.
