• International Baccalaureate at Cleveland High School

All students attending Cleveland High School participate in International Baccalaureate Courses in English, History of the Americas and Biology in 11th grade and English in 12th grade. Beyond these graduation requirements, CHS offers many additional IB electives across the curriculum.

Juniors and seniors enrolled in various IB courses have the option to earn college credit through participation in the formal IB assessment process. Most IB courses require enrollment in the second year of the course prior to registration for IB assessment. The only IB courses for which you can register in the first year of study are IB Anthropology SL, IB Environmental Systems and Societies SL, IB Psychology SL and IB World Religions SL.

Finally, all students have the option to earn the internationally-recognized IB Diploma, alongside their high school Diploma, through meeting a specific set of requirements over their final two years of high school.  For a description of IB Diploma requirements, see IB Options: Diploma and DP Courses.

9th and 10th grade students interested in pursing an IB Diploma should complete all recommended 9th and 10th grade courses: including two years of English, World Language, Social Science, Science, and Math; as well as Physical Education or Speed and Strength Training, Health1 in Grade 9; Health 2 and Sophomore Inquiry* in grade 10; Financial Literacy in grade 11**. There are additional prerequisites for students interested in IB Visual Arts and Theatre; please consult the current Course Guide for specific guidelines.
