  • Ensuring that our students are truly engaged in their school experience in meaningful ways and have the supports they need is a critical element of the College & Career Readiness department. The following programs empower students to achieve to their fullest potential.

Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID)

AVID works to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

Advanced Scholars Program

Connects staff mentors at Franklin, Roosevelt and Madison to students who have not historically enrolled in advanced coursework and provides academic supports.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

Talented and Gifted (TAG)

Curriculum and instruction designed to meet the level and rate of learning of talented and gifted students

GEAR UP Engage, Empower, Elevate (E3)

GEAR UP E3 is a college and career readiness federal grant initiative that provides direct services to students in Jefferson, McDaniel and Roosevelt High Schools and leadership and administrative support for the district's Near Peer Mentor (NPM) and Parent Teacher Home Visit (PTHV) programs.

Leap into 9th Grade

The 4 week summer program prepares incoming ninth-grade students to excel in high school.
