Enrichment and Experience

  • The heart of the Odyssey Program is living the learning. The enrichment is a natural extension of the classroom learning, and is integrated into everything we do. Enrichment activities are wide and varied, ranging from extensive field studies to fine and applied arts, performances, and special events.

Our field studies are multi-day trips to particular places in Oregon and beyond, which provide unique opportunities for students to apply, extend, integrate and internalize everything they have learned in the thematic unit.

Performances are drama, dance and music events which focus on the studies historical time periods, peoples, geographic areas, etc.

Special events are culminating events for units of study, designed not only to enhance and compliment the students’ learning, but to serve as “real world” events and productions which allow the students to share their learning with others.

We use the fine and applied arts extensively throughout our learning process. Our students paint, draw, sculpt, weave, do ceramics and woodworking – and other arts and crafts which are associated with the historical themes and time periods being studied.
