• BEH Weekly Family Message

    Hello BEH Families,

We are kicking off another amazing week at BEH and this week we have the talent show to look forward to. Last week, we got to end the week with our celebration of our March Madness Reading Challenge Party. I got a lot of positive feedback from those students that participated, and I practiced reading and completing reading logs with those that did not turn in any reading logs and, as a result, did not get to participate. I am hopeful that we will continue to see growth in our student participation in these events in the future.

    Attendance:
Last year we made significant gains in our overall attendance, and it was because of all of your help. This year we are a little behind our pace from last year, and we would like to finish the year strong. At this point last year we had 41% of our students who had missed 10% or more of their school days and this year we are at 43%. Please help us, by ensuring that your child is here on time and stays until the end of the school day every day that is possible for the rest of the year. We want to make the most of these last eight weeks of the school year.

    Field Trip Permission Forms:

We have many grade levels going on field trips in the coming weeks, so please be sure to check your students' folders and backpacks to sign and return their permission slips so that they can attend. I know that fourth grade is going on their first field trip next week and we still have half the class that does not have signed permission slips returned. I do not want students to miss out on these fun and educational opportunities.

    Talent Show:

Today was the last chance for students to audition for consideration to be included in the BEH Talent Show this Thursday night. Mr. Todd has recorded all auditions and will be compiling a video to share with families that will include all students that auditioned for the community to view. Tomorrow, he will be reviewing the auditions with school staff to select the final acts that will make the live show on Thursday. Be mindful that the goal of the Talent Show is to make sure the widest range of talents is represented. If your child is not selected, it’s not because their talent was not “good enough”.  Please understand it would be impossible for every talent show auditioner to be chosen for the night.  Thank you for your flexibility around this!

The live talent show will occur for families starting at 5:30 on Thursday night, and we will have dinner for all BEH families that attend. We are hopeful that everyone feels welcome to attend and support our talented students even if your child is not in the talent show.

    Site Council Recording:

Our Site Council met virtually last Thursday evening to discuss school staffing for next year, our student council's work with moving to a new mascot, among other topics. Feel free to check out the recording of the meeting if you are interested . We will meet again at the end of May.

    Summer Acceleration Academy:

Summer Acceleration will be at BEH this summer from July 1st - August 1st and 140 BEH students were invited. So far we have had only 43 BEH students enroll. That is nearly 100 students who were invited via email, but have not claimed their spot. If you are not sure if your child was invited, please call the office and have our secretaries check for you. They can even support you in enrolling them if they were invited.

Thank you for your ongoing support and collaboration. I am excited to see all that we can accomplish together as we close out this school year strong. Please don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything we can do to support you and your family and make this year a success for your children.

    Take care,
    Mr. Kaveh
